DVD MOVIE LIST

Beautiful Truth (Documentary)
After the unexpected and tragic death of his mother, 15-year old Garrett, who is an animal-loving teenager, was spiraling downward and fast. His father withdrew Garrett to be home-schooled to avoid flunking out. Growing up on an Alaskan animal reserve, Garrett’s father recognized his son’s interest in the dietary habits of their animals. That prompted him to assign a book written by Dr. Max Gerson, which maintains that there is a direct link between diet and a cure for cancer. Fascinated and curious, Garrett embarks on a cross-country road trip to investigate the merits of The Gerson Therapy. He meets with scientists, doctors and cancer survivors who reveal how the multi-billion dollar medical industry has made it their mission to dismiss the notion of alternative and natural cures.

Cancer is Curable Now (Documentary)
This documentary brings together more than 30 international, holistic professionals who have been working passionately in the field of cancer alternatives — doctors, scientists, researchers and writers from around the world. You’ve probably heard about many of them in books and on TV, but if you’d like to see their knowledge explained in a 90 minute firework display of insights, this movie is the place to do it.

Dying To Have Known (Documentary)
In DYING TO HAVE KNOWN, filmmaker Steve Kroschel went on a 52-day journey to find evidence to the effectiveness of the Gerson Therapy – a long-suppressed natural cancer cure. His travels take him across both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans, from upstate New York to San Diego to Alaska, from Japan and Holland to Spain and Mexico. In the end, he presents the testimonies of patients, scientists, surgeons and nutritionists who testify to the therapy’s efficacy in curing cancer and other degenerative diseases, and presents the hard scientific proof to back up their claims. You will hear from a Japanese medical school professor who cured himself of liver cancer over 15 years ago, a lymphoma patient who was diagnosed as terminal over 50 years ago as well as noted critics of this world-renowned healing method who dismiss it out of hand as “pure quackery.” So the question that remains is, “Why is this powerful curative therapy still suppressed, more than 75 years after it was clearly proven to cure degenerative disease?” The viewers are left to decide for themselves.

Farmageddon (Documentary)
There is a lot going on in “Farmageddon,” Kristin Canty’s anxiety-laden documentary about government oversight of our farming and food production. Part consumer-rights advocacy, part abuse-of-power exposé, the film dances between the two as if uncertain where to settle. But though neither thread is as fully developed as we might want, Ms. Canty’s main concern — that agribusiness is employing government agencies to harass small, independent farmers — comes through loud and clear.

Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead (Documentary)
Focusing on two men whose bodies have been trashed by steroids, obesity and illness, this documentary chronicles the rigorous healing path including a two month diet of fruits and vegetables that both attempt, in a bid to rescue their health.

Food, Inc. (Documentary)
Lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing how our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. Food, Inc. reveals surprising – and often shocking truths – about what we eat, how it’s produced and who we have become as a nation.

Food Matters (Documentary)
This documentary examines the current state of America’s food supply, and suggests that the over-industrialization of food production is making the nation sicker by the moment. The documentary analyzes the proliferation of chemical additives in “natural” foods, looks at the relationship between the lack of nutrients in the American diet and the nation’s rising health care costs, and offers tips for system detoxification.

Forks Over Knives (Documentary)
What has happened to us? Despite the most advanced medical technology in the world, we are sicker than ever by nearly every measure.
Two out of every three of us are overweight. Cases of diabetes are exploding, especially amongst our younger population. About half of us are taking at least one prescription drug. Major medical operations have become routine, helping to drive health care costs to astronomical levels. Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the country’s three leading causes of death, even though billions are spent each year to “battle” these very conditions. Millions suffer from a host of other degenerative diseases.
Could it be there’s a single solution to all of these problems? A solution so comprehensive but so straightforward, that it’s mind-boggling that more of us haven’t taken it seriously?
FORKS OVER KNIVES examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. The major storyline in the film traces the personal journeys of a pair of pioneering researchers, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.

FRESH the Movie (Documentary)
FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet.
Among several main characters, FRESH features urban farmer and activist, Will Allen, the recipient of MacArthur’s 2008 Genius Award; sustainable farmer and entrepreneur, Joel Salatin, made famous by Michael Pollan’s book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma; and supermarket owner, David Ball, challenging our Wal-Mart dominated economy.

Killer At Large (Documentary)
Obesity is fast becoming the single greatest killer of Americans, causing some experts to claim that we are on the cusp of an evolutionary disaster.
Former Surgeon General Richard Carmona says, “obesity is a terror within; it’s destroying our society from within and unless we do something about it, the magnitude of the dilemma will dwarf 9/11 or any other terrorist event that you can point out.”
Obesity rates in the United States are climbing at an unprecedented rate across all ages and ethnic groupsand leading to the first generation of children whose life expectancy is shorter than that of their parents.
Killer At Large uncovers this epidemic, examining the causes and suggesting way to reverse this deadly trend.

King Korn (Documentary)
Engrossing and eye-opening. King Korn is a fun and crusading journey into the digestive tract of our fast-food nation. Fueled by curiosity and a dash of naivete. College buddies Lan Cheney and Curt Ellis return to their ancestral home of Greene, IA, to find out how the modest corn kernel conquered America.
With the help of real farmers, powerful fertilizer, government aid, and genetically modified seeds, the friends manage to grow one acre of corn. Along the way, they unlock the hidden truths about America’s modern food system.

Our Daily Bread (Documentary)
OUR DAILY BREAD is a wide-screen tableau of a feast which isn’t always easy to digest – and in which we all take part.  A pure, meticulous and high-end film experience that enables the audience to form their own ideas.

Tapped the Movie (Documentary)
Do you always carry a plastic bottle of water around with you? Tapped is a carefully constructed argument against continuing this habit in the future. Bottled water is already more expensive than gasoline, and access to drinking water will become an increasing problem in the near future. In recent years, large companies such as Nestle, Coca-Cola and Pepsi have obtained permission to pump huge volumes of American community water, without paying. Tapped gives the floor to people who are concerned about this issue and are taking action against it. The first city we see is in a green and water-rich area, but in the following shot, the water level has sunk dramatically and a drought is imminent. What follows makes it all too clear that the companies who are threatening to take control of American water supplies do not have the public interest at heart. The company spokespeople who appear on camera do nothing to shake that impression, partly because their comments are contradicted by newspaper articles. Researchers explain that poisonous chemicals are not only released during the production of PET bottles, but also when they are used — meaning they get into the water itself. And then comes the extreme pollution caused by the bottles themselves — the sea is infested with them.

The Gerson Miracle (Documentary)
Sharing the stories of nine longtime cancer survivors, this program explores the principles and effectiveness of Gerson Therapy, a holistic method of treating cancer and other degenerative deseases developed by Dr. Max Gerson in 1928. Gerson’s daughter, Charlotte — founder of the Gerson Institute — also discusses her fight to keep the controversial therapy going despite objections from those who question its effectiveness.

The Future Of Food (Documentary)
Farming was once one of the most common professions in America, but now the growing of food for America’s dinner tables is primarily in the hands of a small number of large agricultural corporations. With deregulations placing less federal scrutiny on how crops are grown, and an increasing number of “agri-business” firms introducing genetically modified vegetables and grains, some experts have begun to question just what we are eating, and how it got that way. At a time when some firms have started seeking patents for new strains of modified seeds and plants, will there come a day when the growing of certain essential foodstuffs will be controlled by private corporations who own a “copyright” on, say, wheat or tomatoes? The Future of Food is a documentary which focuses on growing concerns over how our crops are produced, and how science is altering the foods we eat.

Vanishing Bee’s (Documentary)
Honeybees have been mysteriously disappearing across the planet, literally vanishing from their hives.
Known as Colony Collapse Disorder, this phenomenon has brought beekeepers to crisis in an industry responsible for producing apples, broccoli, watermelon, onions, cherries and a hundred other fruits and vegetables. Commercial honeybee operations pollinate crops that make up one out of every three bites of food on our tables.
Vanishing of the Bees follows commercial beekeepers David Hackenberg and Dave Mendes as they strive to keep their bees healthy and fulfill pollination contracts across the U.S. The film explores the struggles they face as the two friends plead their case on Capital Hill and travel across the Pacific Ocean in the quest to protect their honeybees.
Filming across the US, in Europe, Australia and Asia, this documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the greater meaning it holds about the relationship between mankind and mother earth. As scientists puzzle over the cause, organic beekeepers indicate alternative reasons for this tragic loss. Conflicting options abound and after years of research, a definitive answer has not been found to this harrowing mystery.
